The University of Oulu and eq system scandinavia are intensifying their cooperation.
For two years, the University has been pushing for the teaching of production fine planning in the field of study of production engineering with the help of the Japanese rule-based ASPROVA APS. Now we are expanding the concept to manufacturing operation management.
The University of Oulu’s own workshop is going to use eq system’s XPRIMER as a platform for MES and IoT as a tool for production control, monitoring and data collection.
The software will be used to develop and optimize production, streamline teaching, and produce data for a variety of research uses.
In the future, the integrated production planning and production control environment of ASPROVA and XPRIMER will also serve as a prototype and research platform for the Green Factory (GREEF) project of VTT, Aalto University and the University of Oulu (Business Finland’s Co-Innovation program). The project aims to create and develop future ways to reduce the carbon footprint in companies production environments.
Professor Jari Larkiola of the University of Oulu comments on the project as follows:
There are many sources and materials for Lean-based production control and load management. In teaching, however, we have also wanted to take a more concrete approach by incorporating Asprova APS software, which is widely used in the industry. This gives students a clearer picture of how different functions and their dependencies can be connected to an efficient production environment. Through the Greef project, we will also be able to build a real life pilot environment for the university workshop, which will be utilized especially in teaching.
The eq system is proud to be part of the development of teaching and research and to bring new tools and methods to the manufacturing industry.
